The Blue Angels...oh, yeah baby!!

DAY 1 : Sat. March 15th
It was that time of the year again for the Sacramento Capital Air Show. Usually the air show is in the summer around June but this year they moved it up to March for better weather. I didn't even know about it till we got an invite to one of Patrick's co-workers house. He lives in Rancho Cordova right next to Mather Air Force Base where the air show was heald. So of course we were going to go...who is going to miss the awesome BLUE ANGELS...NOT US!!!! We go there around 2pm and some jets were already flying over, so Logan grabbed his head phones and put them on. Then of course Dylan goes right for the food and didn't even care about the planes. We were all having a good time but the backyard had a pool that was not fenced in so we had to keep our eyes on Dylan at all times...which was so freakin' tiring. Dylan was acting like ADHD on crack and was constantly running around, next to the pool, just to be a pill. I was getting irritated because I really did not want to miss the blue angels when they started!! So Patrick took the boys across the street to a park to run around but the boys got tired of that and "missed mommy" (yeah right, stinkers), so they came back 10 minutes later. The Blue Angels were going to start soon and I just wanted to watch. Dylan finally had some down time for only about 5 minutes so he could eat, meanwhile Logan is just sitting on the hot tub cover with his head phones on waiting for the planes. Finally around 3:30pm we heard the Blue Angel Jets start and off they went. It was incredible how close we were to the runway...I mean we were REALLY CLOSE!! It was just like being at the air show except there was lots of free food :) Logan was a little nervous when the planes first started flying but relaxed after a few minutes...thank god for head phones!! Dylan still did not care for the planes. I thought for sure once the Blue Angels started with all the noise he would calm down and watch but NO, the turd kept running around and didn't want to listen and didn't even seem bothered by the jets!! Thankfully there were a lot of people over and every one kept there eye on Dylan so we could watch part of the show. Well I should say so "I" could watch part of the show...Patrick was busy video taping the jets with Logan so I was stuck chasing Dylan around. Dylan only stopped when all 6 jets flew over, not because of the noise but because he wanted to watch and kept saying "wow, wow, wow". I could not believe that it took 6 loud jet planes to get Dylan to stop and watch for a second or so. But overall the Blue Angels were spectacular and the pics I took don't really show how close they actually were...(my camera is just a normal point and shoot camera with your average zoom) The Blue Angels were so close you could see the pilot and clearly read the writing on the jet, it was amazing and I am really glad we went over to Patrick's co-workers house, it was totally worth it...even with Dylan being a Pill. When the show was over we stayed to eat a little bit more and took off home. Both Patrick and I were so tired after chasing Dylan we crashed when we got home, ugh!!
Day 2: Sunday March 16th
Well we decided to take some more punishment and took the boys over to a HUGE park literally right on the perimeter to Mather Air Force Base the second day to watch more of the Blue Angels. This park was about 3 football sizes and there were tons and tons of cars and people all around to watch the show. I really could not believe how packed the park was and how many people were there to watch!! This time we got there about 3:15pm right before the Blue Angels and it was REALLY, REALLY windy. Logan had his head phones on and we were all ready for the jets. The boys ran around until we heard the engines start and, amazingly enough both boys sat with us on the bench to watch the planes. I think it was so windy they stayed close to keep warm, but in any case we were able to watch the Blue Angels without any disruptions this time and we were even CLOSER to the runway than the previous day!! I mean the Blue Angels were LITERALLY flying right over the park and it felt like you could reach out and touch them!!!! We saw everything perfectly and it was like being at the air show but the best part was that it was free!! This time the both boys had a fun time and after a few minutes Logan took off the head phones and became a pro, showing and telling us where the jet were at all times, he wasn't even bothered by the noise anymore and really liked it a lot. Dylan even liked it and sat on Patrick's lap for most of the show and kept pointing to the jets as they flew by at lightening speed. This REALLY WAS THE BEST spot for viewing the show and I think every year we are going to go back...I know I will!!!! Can't wait for next year :)
ENJOY THE PICS...AND THE VIDEO :)
